The Story of the Snow Worm....

Revelstoke has a wonderful history of the “Revelstoke Snow-Worm.” They original Snow-Worm was designed in the 1970’s and was celebrated for many years in the winter parades. The children laughed and giggled to see grown men walking and wiggling under the huge Snow-Worm in the winter parade, like a dragon on Chinese New Years. The children built huge Snow- Worms in the school yards and Big Eddy Elementary won the prize for the best and last festivity. The original Snow-Worm is a memory that few of us will not forget.

This Century he has
returned with an amazing story of an Ice-Worm. We have renamed as “Revelstoke Snow-Worm.” This unique animal   (Mesenchytraeus solifungus) lives in glaciers and has the same temperature as the ice. He can live without food for three years, looks like a piece of string, travels in millions from place to place, and eats algae. The algae turns pink and smells like watermelon.

He has warmed the hearts of children all over the world as they
wear the original Revelstoke Snow-Worm T-shirts.

to know more? Check out the Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and read about him in British Columbia magazine Winter 2007 edition, page 15.

The T-shirts for children, stickers, and book bags
are for sale at the Revelstoke Farmer’s Market at Grizzly Plaza, downtown Revelstoke and also on this website.
